Description:
Students will follow the lessons found on the PBS-The West website to learn how infectious diseases effected Native American populations. Students will learn how infectious diseases were introduced to Native American culture, they will compare the compare the Cholera outbreak of the 1800 to the one in 1990. Throughout this lesson, students will keep a journal of their experience and chart data using a spreadsheet application. The teacher will guide the students through the lesson plan.

TT: This activity tried and true lesson. Students will follow a instructor led lesson. Along the way they will maintain a journal, write a newspaper article and collect data using a spreadsheet application. Some of the activities in this lesson will be completed as group projects, group discussions or individually by the students.
